Course Description:
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also complete a Graduation ePortfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese Language and Culture, and Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures majors.
Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): [(Prereq: (SPAN 300 or JAPN 403 with a C- or better) and (Junior or Senior Standing)]
Reflective Narrative:
WLC 400 is the most important class that students take in the Japanese Language and Culture major. It is essentially the culmination of all the coursework that has been given to students taking Japanese. It requires you to perform at a advanced level in communication, cultural understanding, and presentation. I was personally afraid of how this class would turn out because capstone seems very difficult as a freshman. However, it helps that there is a Pre-Capstone class that allows students to formulate their research before taking the actual Capstone class. Without it, there would not be enough time to even finish capstone because it is a project that really does take at least a year to finish. The help that you receive in WLC 400 cannot be more appreciated because the professors are there to help you every step of the way and guide you on your research.
